Robot Battles Boston Strong
The epic debut of Robot Battles Boston took place on November 5th with Cadence Electronics at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Chelmsford, MA.
Five teams jumped right into the build phase after getting random team assignments in true Boston fashion named the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox and Revolution. The Celtics breezed to the fastest build time in just over 35 minutes outperforming all other teams by over 5 minutes. It was a race to not be last with the Revolution narrowly finishing their robot ahead of the Red Sox team.
Robot Battles ensued on the second floor overlooking the grand staircase as robot craftpersonship immediately came into the fold with attack arms flying and wheels rolling. Even the Red Sox team, last to complete the build, came into the battles hot with an epic double flip of two robots at the same time to win the battle round. Battles continued until eventually we designated a final round and declared the last robot standing as the winning team. Robot drivers even used the grand piano in the upstairs foyer as cover for the robots in the ensuing battle!
Cadence is the only company that provides the expertise and tools, IP, and hardware required for the entire electronics design chain, from chip design to chip packaging to boards and to systems. It’s no wonder their electrical and systems design expertise allowed them to succeed in building and repairing their battle tested robots. Thank goodness for the Cadence electronic expertise as the Patriot team had a wire sliced during battle and had to splice the wires to get back into contention.
All teams showed their strength and proved to be Boston Strong on this 2 day Cadence retreat with international team members. Thanks Cadence for hosting the TeamWorx Robot Battles and keep the spirit going!
