Seascape Aptos Botbattle Teambuilding
Lam Research Semiverse Solutions Builds, Battles, and Lights Up the Bluff
When your day job lives in software, getting your hands on real hardware is a treat. That’s exactly what the Semiverse Solutions team from Lam Research did at our Robot Build and Battle 1 event at Seascape Resort in Aptos.
Semiverse Solutions is the software side of a hardware company, so putting motors, gears, and wrenches in their hands was a natural fit and a refreshing change of pace. With 125 people split into 25 teams, the lawn above the bay quickly became a busy robotics workshop.
The Build
Teams divided the work, sorted parts, followed the plans, and troubleshot their way to working robots. These software minds proved to be excellent hardware builders. Debugging is debugging, whether it’s code or a drivetrain.
The winning team (pictured) finished in an impressive 32:45, earning 70th place on our all-time leaderboard. That’s a seriously fast build, and they had every reason to celebrate.
The Battle
Then came the main event. As the sun set over the bluff, more than 20 bots rolled onto the arena for an all-out battle. Drivers maneuvered, pushed, and jabbed at each other’s balloons while the crowd packed in shoulder to shoulder, cheering every pop and every narrow escape.
It was one of those moments you can’t fully plan: the ocean, the golden light, and 125 colleagues completely locked in on robots they had built with their own hands.
Why It Works
Robot Build and Battle 1 brings teams together through shared problem solving, fast communication, and friendly competition. For a software team, it was also a chance to see their skills turn into something they could hold, drive, and send into battle.
Thank you to Lam Research Semiverse Solutions for an unforgettable afternoon on the bluff!
